Electrical Engineering Intern
ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP
SeaO₂ is looking for a driven and enthusiastic Electrical Engineering Intern to support our engineering and technical team in developing next-generation carbon capture technology. This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in process automation and electrical systems within a mission-driven startup tackling the climate crisis.
As part of our professional and collaborative team, you will contribute to the design, implementation, and optimization of electrical systems crucial to our innovative carbon capture units. You will be involved in both hands-on technical work and design-focused tasks, making this a valuable learning experience for anyone passionate about sustainable technology.
During the internship, you will work on a pre-defined internship assignment. The assignment contains technical objectives as well as learning & development objectives. Before the start of the internship, the assignment is written by the company supervisor and reviewed and approved by the university supervisor.
Responsibilities
Design and update electrical cabinet layouts, single-line diagrams, and other technical documentation.
Assist in the wiring and installation of components for industrial automation and control systems.
Work with low-voltage (LV) electrical systems, supporting both their setup and maintenance.
Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary engineering team to identify and implement improvements in system design and functionality.
Participate in the installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of electrical and instrumentation systems at both the Amsterdam office and our pilot site on the Afsluitdijk.
Learn and apply best practices in industrial automation, contributing to the development of cutting-edge clean technology.
Requirements
Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a university program (HBO, WO) in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related field, pursuing or holding a bachelor’s or master’s degree.
Strong foundation in electrical wiring, cabinet design, and interpreting single-line diagrams.
Familiarity with low-voltage systems and industrial communication protocols (such as Analog and Digital I/O, IO-Link, Profinet, EtherNet/IP, Modbus) is a strong plus.
Able to commute to our Amsterdam office and available to visit our Afsluitdijk pilot location weekly (depending on project needs).
Strong interest in renewable energy, carbon capture, and contributing to climate-focused innovation.
Fluent in English; proficiency in Dutch is a plus.
A proactive, detail-oriented team player eager to learn and contribute in a professional engineering environment.

Internship Details
Location: Amsterdam, Afsluitdijk, Scheveningen, home office
Work Mode: This internship will be a hybrid role, combining online and in-person work depending on the project requirements at each stage of development.
Start Date: Q4 2025.
Duration: minimum of 6 months.
Languages: Candidates should speak English fluently; proficiency in Dutch is a plus.
Compensation: €400 per month, plus reimbursement for commuting expenses.
