Operations Technician
ABOUT THE JOB
Founded in 2021, Dutch startup SeaO₂ works to enable the net zero emissions goal. We use our patented technology to achieve large scale carbon dioxide removal (CDR) from the ocean using an electrochemical approach.
The ocean has 150 times more carbon than the air which makes the oceanic carbon capture more efficient compared to direct air capture (DAC). By ocean CDR, we remove CO₂ indirectly from the atmosphere and battle ocean acidification. To meet the net zero carbon goals of 2050, sustainable, scalable, inexpensive technologies that fit in an electrified industry and have a small footprint are needed for carbon capture.
Currently, such technologies do not exist. At SeaO₂ we aim to change that. Currently, we are performing R&D on our prototype at the Afsluitdijk in the Netherlands to increase the process efficiency and reduce its total energy consumption. Based on our findings, we are designing and building our pilot with a 250 tCO2/yr removal capacity in the coming year.
We are looking for a fulltime ‘operations technician’ with relevant technical experience to join our team to support the operation of our lab-scale experiments, prototype testing, and, eventually, pilot plant commissioning.
Working together on designing, building, and testing of the total integrated process, taking it from lab-scale (TRL5) to pilot-scale (TRL 6) and TRL 9 eventually.
Supporting builds and deployments of our prototype and pilot.
Optimizing and managing the day-to-day operational processes,
ensuring that systems, equipment, and production processes run
efficiently and safely.
Maintenance and testing of the pilot and lab; ensuring that
machinery and equipment are properly maintained and reliably
operated.
Ensuring a timely repair of components when needed by working
together with suppliers and partners;
Providing detailed reports on operational performance, efficiency,
and possible risks.
Working together with the other engineers to ensure projects are
executed smoothly and processes are continuously improved.
MBO/HBO degree (or higher) in technical operation/chemical engineering , or a related field, with a great appetite for operational challenges.
Relavant experience in industry, preferably in operation of chemical processes, or work as a (chemical) technician
A passion for hands-on, prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting in a lab environment as well as at a pilot plant scale
Ability and experience in building lab and pilot components with hands. Previous experience related to scaling up from demo/ prototype to pilot scale is a pre.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients.
The position requires the ability to effectively multi-task and manage numerous projects/tasks simultaneously, frequently within a compressed startup schedule.
In possession of an (unlimited) European work permit, located in the Netherlands, with willingness to travel to the Afsluitdijk and our new pilot location in the future.
Possession of a valid EU driving license, flexibility to travel, owning a car is an advantage.
Do you want to join our team as our new Operations Technician? Then we'd love to hear about you!
